Plato's Theory about Love

In high school I can remember studying Plato in an honors history class. One of his theories has always stuck with me as being so romantic. He had this theory that in the beginning we were androgynous beings, not male or female. People were a circular in form. Some how we angered the gods and they split us in half making us male and female. We were doomed to spend our lives looking for our other half. I don't believe this theory to be true but I love the idea that there is one person out there for everyone that completes him or her and makes him or her whole.
